Why I Love Having Time Off In Winter

As a lot of you may know, I much prefer the colder months to any other. I prefer the darker nights, wrapping up in jumpers and coats and feeling super cosy inside while it's raining! Today I wanted to write up a post all about the things I like to do in my time off over Christmas. This post is definitely going to be super cosy and chilled and I thought it was the perfect type of post to write for this rainy Sunday! So sit back, relax and I hope you enjoy reading today's post!

1. Pamper Time

I think over Christmas is the perfect time to have a few pamper days or evenings. It's one of my favourite things to do and can make me feel like a new women! I love getting all of my skincare products out and choosing what I want to use for a pamper evening. I usually start with a face mask and we all know this is an essential! I then have a shower where I can exfoliate, cleanse and give my hair a good wash. I really enjoy spending the time to give my skin a deep cleanse as it always feels soft and fresh afterwards! A face mask and exfoliator that I am loving using at the minute is the Superdrug Superfruits Exfoliating Mask and the Zoella Pretty Polished Body Scrub. Next, I will light some candles in my bedroom as I finish off my skincare routine. If I am having a pamper session, I will always use lots of amazing skincare products to leave my skin feeling hydrated and soft. The Body Shop Drops of Youth ConcentrateBouncy Sleeping Mask and Soap and Glory Eye Patches are key products for any pamper session of mine. These are affordable and Cruelty Free products which I would recommend trying if you haven't already. I finish off my skincare using a body butter or lotion! I will then sit back and relax while doing other beauty bits while watching a good TV show like friends or the big bang! This could include painting my toenails, plucking my eyebrows, applying a foot mask and loads more! Everyone's pamper routine will be different and there are so many different beauty bits that you could do to make yourself feel amazing. I think that it's really important to make time to look after yourself, especially around the colder months as this is when your skin will need it the most. It allows you time to recharge and get yourself feeling amazing again!

2. So many films!

My favourite thing about having a few weeks off means I have a lot of days to have movie marathons- my favourite days! I love knowing that I don't have any plans that day and I can just sit in bed and watch loads of new or loved films. As most of you already know, I am a big movie fan so any chance to sit down and watch some films- I'll take it! I can watch over 5 films in a day and I know some people would get bored of watching that many...but not me! I get myself a comfy set up on my bed, bring some snacks up, light some candles and I'm good to go. I have a big DVD collection so there's always something for me to watch but I also love having a look on Netflix and seeing what new films are on there that I haven't seen before. Over the past week or so I have loved watching all the Marvel films, Tomb Raider, The Tourist, The Longest Ride and more. I have just ordered some new films to watch over my time off and I also have my eye on some on Netflix that I need to watch. If any of you have any good film recommendations, please let me know! Whether it's a musical, Disney film, comedy, action, romance...I will give it a watch.

3. Finally having the time to read!

I am someone who likes to buy books but always struggles to find the time to read them. Sometimes I can buy a book and not get round to reading it until a few months later. But, when I do find the time to read, I really enjoy it. I think one of my new years resolutions will 100% be finding the time to read more. Even if it's just 15 minutes before bed instead of scrolling through my phone! Having some time off means I have a lot more time to finally sit down and read some books which I have been waiting to read for a while. I am someone who can go through a book quite quickly, but once I pick one up, I find it really hard to put it down! But I guess that's a sign of a good book. The books that I have to read are The F Word by Lily Pebbles, Find The Girl by Lucy and Lydia and The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan. I will probably go through all of these books quite quickly so I will let you know what I think of them! Again, if anyone has any book recommendations, please let me know in the comments or on social media.

4. Cleaning and feeling organised

One of my favourite things to do when having time off is getting myself organised and having a bit of a clear out. I feel like getting rid of things you no longer use or need, tidying up and feeling on top of things is the perfect way to start a new year. Around Christmas is a time when you will receive some new things to add to your home or bedroom, so I think that having a clear out and change is perfect to do. I have started to do this in my bedroom over the past couple of days and I am going to continue to do this over the next week as I think it is really useful to me and helps me feel refreshed. I have already got a few bags of clothes to go to charity and there's still so much to go through. I also love creating a Pinterest Board at this time of year to look at new ideas on how to rearrange or redecorate my room. I am always looking for creative storage ideas or things that I can create to add little touches to my room. I think it can sometimes be really useful for people to do this as it helps create a better atmosphere, clear your mind as well as your surroundings. It's also important to give these bits to charity that you no longer need so you can help out those who need it around this time of year. I have started to adapt the one in, one out theory for myself as this is making sure I don't have too many things and holding onto things that I no longer need!

5. Finding the time for food and friends

As much as I love relaxing and having days of doing nothing, I am also a big fan of finding time to see friends over this time of year. Of course I see my family a lot over Christmas as I am very close to my family! But, also remembering to see friends over Christmas is important too! I love planning cinema dates, food dates and nights out to spend some time with my best gals. Having the extra time to go and see friends is something I appreciate as finding the time when you both have busy schedules can be a bit of a nightmare. I feel like once Christmas is done, everyone is a lot more chilled and relax and it's the perfect time to catch up with your friends over some good food or drinks! Spending time with friends also doesn't have to involve spending money and going out either! Having a chilled night in watching The Holiday, with a glass of Prosecco with your best friend also sounds like a dream to me! Finding the time to see how you're friends are doing is something I will always do and when I have extra time to do this...bonus!

So there we have it! A round up of some of the things that I enjoy doing with my time off over Christmas and things that I think are important to remember. I hope I have given some of you an inspiration of what to do with your days off or reminded you that it's important to give yourself some down time to recharge and feel better! Having this time off is a chance for you to have fun, relax and eat some amazing food. So don't feel bad for not feeling caught up on things and not being in a usually routine, it's what this time of year is all about!

I will be back again next week for the last post of 2018...scary! See you then.

Kellie xx
