Guess who's now 20?

So guys...It's my birthday! Today I turn that sounds strange. But I thought that today would be the perfect day to write another blog post about some things that I have learnt. But this time, I'm going to do 20 things that I have learnt in 20 years!

1. How Important Yet Surprising Friendship Can be...

So, starting off with one of the most important ones! Friendship is a roller coaster for sure. Sometimes people may surprise you with their actions, you may drift apart from people who you thought would be there forever and some people just stick with you through everything. In 20 years, its safe to say...I've had a number of different friends! I believe that each person came into my life to teach me something, whether they are still with me or not! I am beyond grateful for the friends that I have found...they are truly the best! Friendship is so bloody important and it doesn't matter how many friends you have...a small handful of truly amazing friends is so much better than a large number of people who are only there for you sometimes...

2. Travelling is good for the soul

I am very lucky to say that I have been able to see a lot of different locations around the world. I am a massive fan of travelling and I personally believe it's so good for you. If I could spend all day everyday travelling as a job...I would! I just love seeing new places, experiencing new things and being in a different environment. It can change your perspective on so many things and makes you realise how grateful you are. Travelling is for sure one of the best things that I have done in 20 years...but it definitely doesn't end here! There are still so many places to see...

3. The world is a beautiful place

As I have got older, I have 100% realised how beautiful the world is and how much we need to look after it. When you're younger, you never realise how simple things that you do could be effecting the world. I am so happy that I have began to appreciate the world around me and want to look after it and improve it as much as I can. Climate change is so so important and I am proud to be apart of making a difference as much as I can.

4. Chocolate is the best!

In my 20 years...Chocolate is still by far one of the best things that I have discovered.

5. You don't always have to be happy.

This one again, is one that took me a while to figure out. You are allowed days of feeling down, where you want to speak to nobody or you just want to cry or scream! That's ok. Comparing yourself to others is a terrible habit. Just because someones life seems so happy and perfect on Instagram, doesn't mean a thing. Social media is where we put all the good things, but you never know what is going on behind closed doors. Some people struggle on a day to day basis, some people may struggle with mental health or some people just have their down days! But again...that's ok. You don't have to be happy all the time!

6. Photography is a passion

Another thing that I have become to love is photography. I have loved learning about it, using different equipment to capture photos and being really creative. It's something that I will always love and I'm so happy that I get to experience it all the time!

7. My love for blogging

Linking on from the previous love for blogging. I can't even describe how happy I am that I have this little space on the internet. Who would have thought that the day I hit upload on my first blog post would turn into this! I am so obsessed with blogging and love it more and more everyday. I love the community, my readers and being able to share everything with you guys!

8. Kindness costs nothing

This is an important one to me for sure. Being polite, supportive and nice is just so easy to do. People often forget how something so small can change someones day. Let's face it, things can get hard so what's wrong with a bit of kindness! I always try my hardest to be as kind as I can as I believe it's the right attitude to have. Remember...Kindness costs nothing.

9. Finding my style

In 20 years, it's safe to say that my fashion has changed numerous times! From the cute baby clothes, to the horrible coats your mum used to dress you in, to the first time you got to dress yourself and you looked horrendous to this day today where things are so much better. We all have those embarrassing outfits in old photos where our parents thought it was cute...but it really wasn't! There were times in high school where we thought cropped leggings and thin eyebrows and beads we amazing. Times when we had questionable hairstyles and strange shoes. But this is all apart of growing up and I'm happy to say...I definitely know what suits me now. I feel like I have found my style...thank god for that!

10. I don't think I could live without music!

Music is a massive part of a lot of peoples lives and I listen to it on a daily basis. Music has changed so much in 20 years and I have listened to all sorts! I am a big fan of a wide range of music. I listen to old songs, some rock bands, some chart music, musicals, indie name it! I like having a varied taste to keep it interesting. Music is just the best. Singing in the car, being in your own little bubble with your headphones, soundtracks in films, dancing on a night out, is everywhere!

11. Obsessed with TV and films...

Let's face it...I'm so bloody obsessed with TV shows and films. I get so attached to characters, feel so many emotions and spend a large amount of my spare time with my eyes glued to a screen.

12. Sometimes I'd choose the cinema over a night out?

Leading on from this...I have learnt how much I LOVE the cinema! Sometimes, I would much rather pick a cinema night instead of a night out...but who cares? Seeing new films gives me a lot of happiness!

13. The journey with body image.

This one is a tough one, simply because I am not fully there yet. Everyone will agree in saying that growing up and body image...the two don't always mix that well. There are just so many changes and it gets to a point where you find it very difficult to like the body that you're in. I am so much happier since I started the gym and started taking my fitness seriously...but I'm still no where near where I want to be. I have days where I hate every inch but then I have days where I feel strangely confident. This is just all apart of growing up and I don't think this will ever change!

14. Crazy obsession with makeup!

Makeup is now a big part of my life and it's something that I love. I enjoy spending my money on beauty products and I get excited over them too. Some people aren't makeup people, but hey, that's ok as it's not for everyone. I can happily say that I am sooo much better at makeup than I ever was, but still have so much to learn for sure. I remember the days when clear mascara and lip-gloss were a thing...much simpler days but it's safe to say that makeup has advanced a lot since then...and so has my makeup collection!

15. Sometimes things goes wrong...

Life isn't perfect. We all know that. Its normal for things to go wrong, for things to turn out not as we expected or for mistakes to happen. But that's ok. I have made a handful of mistakes in 20 years, some I wish didn't happen but at the end of the day...everything happens for a reason. You will always learn from a mistake and it might even make you a stronger person. The things that go wrong in our life only shape us as a person. But don't get me wrong...there are also a lot of things that go right in your life too. It's great when that happens!

16. Learning not to care.

This is something that I have only learnt to conquer recently. It does take a while to build a thick skin and grow some confidence...but I finally think I'm nailing it. Learning not to care about what others think is honestly one of the best things that you can do. At the end of the day, as long as it makes you happy, that's all what is important. If I didn't feel this way, I would of never have started by blog. So I'm glad that I pushed past that barrier and carried on, because I've never been happier. Wear what you want, do what makes you happy and remember to keep smiling!

17. More and more inspiring people!

In my 20 years, I have discovered sooo many inspiring people. This could be people in my family, friends, celebrities, name it! I love finding inspiration from people. Being inspired is one of the best feelings and always motivates me. It could be an amazing performance in a film, a kind and heroic act someone did, someones looks that wows me, someones incredible blog post...the list is endless. I am always looking to the people that inspire me on an everyday basis. It pushes me to work hard, challenge myself and go that step further. Some people that inspire me are In The Frow, Jennifer Lawrence, Nikki Reed, my sister, and so many more people!

18. Constantly dreaming...

I am a dreamer. I always have a list of things that I want to achieve and I'm just a very ambitious person. I will always aim high and be coming up with something new that I want to do every single week. I actually really love this part of me as it makes me happy when I tick something off my list! My bucket list is forever growing and I'm ok with that!

19. Cruelty free all the way!

If you know me well or have been a loyal will know how much cruelty free means to me. I am so happy that I made the change and actually starting thinking about what I was buying and how it was making a difference. I absolutely adore animals to pieces and the thought of someone hurting them for a beauty product or fashion makes me feel sick. Becoming a vegetarian and having a cruelty free lifestyle if 100% one of the best changes that I have ever made.

20. Growing up is a challenge!

To finish things off...I thought I would of course include this one. Growing up is difficult. It's never going to be easy I'm afraid and will always be full of ups and downs...but that's life. It's what shapes us into individuals and helps us realise who we are! I have had so many experiences, gone through so many emotions and I'm only 20 years in! From taking my first steps, my first day at school, my first boyfriend, my first best friend, my first time drinking, my first night out, my first heartbreak, my first job, my first time travelling, my first blog post...It's been one hell of a journey and I'm excited for the next chapter! Growing up is a journey but one that everyone has to go on. Surround yourself with the right people, do what makes you happy and you'll be just fine.

So that's all for today's blog post! I hope you enjoyed reading all about 20 things that I have learnt in 20 years. I just wanted to say in advance (because I know how lovely you all are)...thank you for all the birthday messages! I will be at work but once I'm done it's a takeaway and Mamma Mia for me! Bliss...I will be back next time with another blog post.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Selfie Lash Mascara

Today's post is a review of a new beauty product that I have recently purchased. This was a product that I was desperate to try when I heard it was being released and I am so bloody happy that I got my hands on one. I have been testing this product out for over a week now, and I had to let you guys know my thoughts!

The beauty product that I'm going to be talking about today is the wonderful Tanya Burr's new mascara from her cosmetics line. This is the first mascara that she has released and I'm going to be honest, I'm obsessed. This product is apart of the Selfie Story range and the official name of this product is: Selfie Story Lash Mascara. It's a black mascara which is available in stores or online I believe! Tanya's products always seem to go above and beyond my expectations, so there's no surprise that I loved this product. The reason that I love this brand so much, is because the packaging is always beautiful, looking very high quality! But the prices are so so affordable and the quality is unreal. Some of my all time favourite products are from this brand and yes I'm going to put it out there...this is the BEST drugstore mascara I have ever used!

A Weekend Away To My Favourite Place

Last weekend... I got to spend it in one of my favourite places! If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I adore this place. That's right, I spent the weekend in Brighton! Brighton is just the place to be. It has everything you could possibly need and more. I must admit, the whether wasn't great this time, but that didn't stop us from exploring and having a good time.

I went with two of my step sisters this time. Neither of them had been before, so I got to be a little tour guide for the weekend. It feels like home more and more every time I visit. I knew my way around so easily and I have started to know the little streets and shortcuts! I just love the feeling of walking around and imagining myself living there...It NEEDS to happen soon!

We spent the majority of Saturday seeing all the main tourist bits and taking some pictures. The sea, the beach huts, the bandstand, the pier, the lanes...all the good stuff! I took them to all the places that I love and I just loved seeing it all again for myself. Although I've seen these things numerous times before, I just love going back to them again and again. There is nothing at all where I live and no spots to go and see. But in Brighton, there's something around every corner and that's one thing that I love about it. We had tea at Ask Italian down the lanes which was delicious! I love how much choice there is for food in Brighton, you'd never be left without any food! We also went to one of the pubs on the sea front which I've never done before. I've walked past them loads of times and always wanted to go in. We went into Tempest Inn and it was so cool inside! You should defiantly go if you're in Brighton. Really cool decor, lovely staff and a great location.

We were lucky enough to get tickets to see Lorde on the Saturday night at Brighton Centre. Let's just! I was expecting it to be good, but the whole show just went above and beyond. Lorde is honestly the most genuine, fun and loveliest person! Her voice is incredible, her outfits are amazing and her dancing is the best! I just loved hearing her sing all the songs off her new album, which is amazing by the way, and she loved having conversations and talks with us all too! The atmosphere was by far an amazing thing I'll never forget! I would LOVE to go and see her again in the future. What a night! The support act for Lorde was also very very good. He was called Khalid and it's someone that I had never heard of before. I am now pretty obsessed with his songs. Very talented, super cool and a great dancer!

On Sunday we decided to go and visit a few shops and see the last few bits before heading home. I went to one of my favourite Jewlerry shops in Brighton called Lovisa. It's so affordable and they sell some beautiful pieces. We also went to Photomatic as this is 100% a tradition when I go to Brighton. I'm sure a lot of you will know about this place, but you can go in and get a cute 4 picture Polaroid! There's a black and white machine and also a colour machine. One of my favourite places in Brighton for sure. It's located opposite the Komedia. I have to go and get one every time I go to Brighton, my collection is coming together nicely!

We ended the trip off by going to Boho Gelato and getting some food on the Pier. A typical seaside thing to do! I always get really sad when it comes to going home as I never want to leave. I am so happy that I have finally found a place where I feel at home and happy, but It's such a shame that I can't stay there! I know that I will move there over the next few years, but these things take time of course!

So that's it for today's post. I just thought that I would share my weekend with you guys as I had such a lovely time in Brighton. I really loved some of the pictures that I took so a diary post today felt right. I will be doing more of these when I have weekends away for sure!
