Pressing Pause...

Taking some time to look after yourself should be something that everyone does on a regular basis. It doesn't have to be a full pamper routine, this time can be taken to do whatever makes you happy and relaxed. I have been working hard on making sure that I give myself time to forget about everything that's making me stressed and only focusing on things that will make me happy! Having downtime is perfect for relaxing the body and its also really beneficial for the mind too! A period of time specific to being calm and happy always has a positive impact and is definitely an important thing that we should all do. In today's post, I am going to be showing you how I take the time to put life on pause for a small amount of time, and hopefully it will remind some of you to do the same as I know I tend to forget from time to time...

1. Lighting a candle
This is the first thing that I always do when having downtime as I think it helps everyone feel a little bit more relaxed instantly. At the moment, I have been loving the small Yankee candles and also a new purchase, which is a vanilla and coconut candle from Primark. I always watch YouTube videos about pamper routines and this is always something that everyone seems to do to start everything off.

2. Hand Food
Having a bit of a pamper is something that I do like to include as it allows me to feel calmer and helps to take away any stress. Having downtime and pamper time is very different for me so I only choose to incorporate one thing, which is using a hand cream. This is something that I do a few times everyday, so, for me its a great thing to do at the beginning. I am still using the same hand cream that I have been using for years, and this is the Soap and Glory Hand Food.

3. Having a treat
This is one of the number one priorities when it comes to taking time for yourself. This time is about forgetting about being healthy and stop thinking about fitness for a short while. Don't feel guilty about having a treat as you are allowed to have nice things every so often! I will usually have chocolate, as this is my number one food. But today, I decided to make some popcorn as I hadn't had any in a while. Making a treat is different for everyone, so this step can vary!

4. Reading a book
Reading is something that I never used to enjoy that much, but as I have got a bit older, I have started to like reading a lot more. It's not something that I will do everyday, but its something that will help me to relax when I take time for myself. At the minute, I have been reading Girl Online On Tour by Zoe Sugg. I read the first one last year and I read that in a few days. I am am loving the second one so far and its one that I would recommend as its an easy read and helps me to feel a lot more relaxed.

5. Doing something that makes you happy!
This is a really important step and is one that can change for me every time, depending on what I feel like doing. This is usually the last thing that I do but is one that I enjoy the most. One of the things that I usually do is read peoples blogs, this is something that I find makes me really calm and I really enjoy it too. I love catching up on all the blogs that I follow and I love finding new blogs too. Another thing that makes me happy is watching YouTube videos. I have been subscribed to various people for over a year now and I watch their videos every week. So having specific time to sit and catch up on everything is perfect for me. The channels which I love to watch at the moment when I want to relax are Zoella, Anna Saccone and Lucy and Lydia. The final thing which I wanted to mention is watching Netflix. This is one that I tend to choose the most as watching films and series is something that I am really interested in. At the minute, I have been loving The Vampire Diaries.

I hope you enjoyed today's post and I will be back on Tuesday with another beauty post...

New products from Sleek...

For today's post, I thought I would show you two new products which I recently got from Sleek. This is a brand that I have never tried before but they had a really good deal on at Superdrug, so I thought I would order a few things to test it out. The first thing that I ordered was the Highlighter Palette and the second thing was the Eye Shadow Palette (Oh So Special). When they arrived, I was really excited to use them! I think that the packaging is amazing as its really simple but looks like a high end brand. The highlighter palette in particular looks amazing as this is part of the precious metals. I can honestly say that I am really impressed with this brand! The products are really amazing quality and last all day. I will definitely be trying out some more products as I really want to see what else they have to offer.

The Highlighter Palette is amazing! It consists of four highlighting shades and they are all really beautiful! I swatched one of the colours when I first received the product, and I couldn't believe it as its amazing quality and I know that I wont have to use a lot of the product to get the results I want. The four shades included in this palette are Platinum, Royal Gold, Renaissance and Antique Bronze. I really love the packaging in particular and the product lasted all day so I was really happy! I have been looking for a really good highlighter from the drugstore for a while now, so I'm happy that I have found one that's great quality! There are three cream highlighters and one powder. I have never tried cream highlighters before, but I think I prefer them as they last a lot longer and I can really see the difference on my face. I think this palette is amazing for a variety of skin tones and it constantly leaves a really nice shimmer on the tops of my cheek bones.

I have been wanting to buy a new eye shadow palette for a while now so I thought that I would buy one of the Sleek ones called Oh So Special. This palette consists of 12 different shades and I think that the colours are perfect for what I like. I used this for the first time yesterday and I cant believe how pigmented the shades are! The shimmer shades in particular look amazing on the eyes and last all day. I haven't used all of the shades yet, but I am really impressed with the ones that I have used so far! This palette is only £7.99 and there are 7 palettes to choose from, depending on what shades you want. The palette that I chose consists of lots of warm and shimmery tones which works really well for me, but I do want to try some of the other palettes in the future.

I hope you enjoyed today's post! I have been really impressed with these products, and if I do try any more of their products, I will be sure to post them on here! I love reading blog posts as I enjoy finding out about new makeup products as well as simple lifestyle posts! I have left a few images below of the look that I created with these new products. Although the highlighter hasn't come up on camera as well as I'd hoped, I can assure you, it truly is amazing! I will be back on Saturday with another post...

A relaxed day...

For today's post, I thought I would do an everyday lifestyle post. I will probably end up doing these every so often as I think its a nice change for my blog and something I would like to look back on. Yesterday was a very relaxed day, which I love every so often! I started the day off by baking some cupcakes. These were for someone's birthday and they are just simple cupcakes with butter icing. I often find baking quite relaxing and its something that I really enjoy doing on quieter days.

I then decided to watch a film with my mum as it isn't often that we have a day off together. We decided to watch Pirates of the Caribbean which is one of my favourites! I'm definitely the type of person that can sit and watch films all day. I know a lot of people can easily fall asleep from watching films all day but I love to watch them to the end. Pirates of the Caribbean is a film that me and my mum love and I could watch it over and over again. I haven't seen it in a while so it was nice to spend a few hours chilling out on the sofa.

In the afternoon, I decided to go to the gym! I have been trying really hard with my fitness recently as its one of my new years resolutions. I try and go 5 times a week so that I can have the weekend to relax. I have started to go to some classes at the gym and I'm really enjoying them! I definitely feel a lot more motivated this time then in the past and I really hope that I start to see a difference soon!

I then spent the night watching my new favourite series on Netflix, The Vampire Diaries! I can honestly say that I am obsessed! I'm on season 4 at the minute and once I start watching, I find it difficult to stop! I love the characters and the story-line and I don't want it to end. Its definitely my type of series as I love romance and action. If you haven't seen it before, I would 100% recommend this as its my new favourite!

I hope you enjoyed reading today's post and I really enjoyed writing about my day. This is something that I will be doing in the future as I think it fits in perfectly with my blog! I will be back on Tuesday with another beauty post...

Current DVD favourites...

Today's post is my updated current DVD favourites! I did this post in September and my favourites to watch change every month so I thought I would let you know what I am loving at the moment! But, if you want to check out the previous post, click here Current DVD favourites (September 2015). I am a big film fan and love going to the cinema. I will usually watch any films as I love the majority of them. Watching a lot of films is something that I like to do in my spare time and I also love watching TV series as well. My new obsession is The Vampire Diaries!!

1. The Last Song

This has been one of my favourite films for a while now! This film came out in 2010 (I think) and stars Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. This film is perfect for a night in and although it may be quite sad, its so amazing! This maybe more of a girls film but I think a lot of people would enjoy this film! I have been watching this film a lot recently so I had to mention it in this post.

2. The Duff

This film is quite a recent one and I bought the DVD a few weeks ago. I went to see The Duff at the cinema and I loved it! Its a fun film which is perfect for a chilled day or just a film to put you in a better mood. The film stars Bella Thorne who I am a big fan of!

3. Tangled

Of course, I had to mention a Disney film in this post. The first time I saw Tangled was a while ago now and I recently watched it again. I forgot how much I loved this film and it's one of those films that I can watch over and over again. This is one of my favourite Disney films and if you haven't seen it yet, I would 100% recommend this!

4. In Time

This is a film I decided to watch because I love Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. I really love action films and this one didn't disappoint at all! Its a really interesting story line and I love the actors involved. I think it's a film that not many people have heard of but it should get more recognition as its amazing!

5. Mamma Mia

I thought I mentioned this DVD in my last post but I didn't, so I had to mention it today as I still have been watching it a lot! I'm sure everyone has heard of this film and I am a big fan of musicals so I loved it! I love how all the songs have been put into a story-line and I don't think I will ever get bored of this film.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post although it was shorter than usual! I didn't want to spoil anything about the films so I kept the writing short and sweet today. I will be doing a few more of these posts in the future as films are something that I really enjoy talking about. I will be back on Tuesday with another beauty post!

2016...

Today, I thought I'd write a post all about 2016 as a New Year can mean lots of new goals and exciting things! In this post, I am going to include some resolutions and also some things that I am looking forward too! I know a lot of people make resolutions and some don't bother as they only last a week! But I am going to try really hard this year to stick to mine as I want this year to be amazing! Last year was one of the worst years for me, I won't bore you with all the details but the main focus now, is making this year one that I will remember!

Resolutions:

My number one resolution is definitely fitness! I know this is a typical one that everyone says, but I really want to take this one seriously. Over the past few months, I have started to be really unhappy with the way I look and I know we all go through these phases. So, I decided to join the gym and do something about it! I want to start exercising more as I know it will benefit my body and I also want to make an effort with eating healthier as I know this will benefit me a lot too! I will still give myself a treat day, as I can't just cut out all delicious food! Joining the gym was something I was always unsure about as I always felt intimidated, but I have been a few times now and I'm actually enjoying it! No one is looking at you as everyone's there for the same reason and focused on what they're doing.

Another resolution with mine is one that I wasn't sure about sharing, but I thought that this may be an important one for everyone! I want to try and focus on making myself happy a lot more and stop worrying about what others think! I have definitely made a lot of decisions based on making others happy and I also haven't done a lot of things that I wanted to do as I was worried what other people would think. But me and my friend Nia, have decided to try our hardest to focus on ourselves this year and do things that we want to do as we know it will make us a lot happier!

The final resolution that I want to mention is to do with travelling! I have got a few more resolutions but I thought that these three would be the best to put on the blog. This year, I want to save up so that I can travel in 2017 and I also want to begin planning where I want to go as soon as possible! America is a place where I definitely want to visit first! There are so many sights to see and places to go and I would love to visit a few places in the US. New York, Florida and LA are the top three places on my list and I am really excited to start planning this trip! There are so many places around the world which I want to go and see. I would love to spend a year travelling the world, but I guess its easier said than done!

Exciting things in 2016:

One of the things that I am most excited about this year is seeing two of my favourite artists! The first one is Ellie Goulding and I have never seen her before so I'm really looking forward to it! I have always loved her songs from the beginning and I absolutely love her voice, I think she will be amazing live! The second artist that I am seeing are Little Mix! This will be the third time that I have seen them now and I am very excited for their tour. They are amazing live and I can't wait to see what this tour will include!

Another thing which I am excited for is The 100 season 3! This is my favourite TV show and I am so so excited for it to start in a few weeks! If you have never seen any of the episodes, I would 100% recommend them as its the best show ever! I mentioned this show in one of my previous posts and I am sure there will be a blog post purely dedicated to my reaction on season 3! I love the cast involved and I think it is a show that has gotten really popular throughout the two seasons. I won't go into a lot of detail as I'll just get over excited!

There are also loads of new films coming out this year and some of them are ones I've been waiting for years! A few examples are, Allegiant, The Jungle Book, Finding Dory and many more! I love going to the cinema and its one of my favourite things to do! I could also sit and watch films all day so I get really excited about new films coming out. I also love that Disney are releasing a lot more films and more remakes which is really exciting too!

A final thing which I am looking forward to is finishing college! I'm not going to university as its not for me and all of my friends are going, so its kind of scary! I haven't fully worked out what I am going to do yet but this is something that I will be focusing on in the next few months. I hope to get an apprenticeship or full time job, so its exciting to think what I could be achieving very soon!

Even though this was quite a wordy post, I hope you enjoyed reading it anyway! I think this time of year is a great time to reflect and really think about what you want to achieve. Setting goals is something that I think is really important and I usually give up after a certain amount of time, but this year I am going to stick to them as I want this year to be a lot better and happier for me! I hope you all have set some resolutions too and I would love to hear about any of yours. I hope you're all having a nice start to the year and I will be back on Tuesday with another beauty related post!
